Kroger closing 60 stores across four states in August as grocery giant's profits stumble

Kroger is shutting down 60 locations in the U.S. over the next 18 months, with some to begin closing very soon, the company confirmed in its first quarter 2025 sales report. At the start of the fiscal year, Kroger had 2,731 stores, which means the closures only represents 2% of the grocery giant's national footprint.
