Layoff Anxiety Survey: 7 in 10 Workers Are Bracing for Job Cuts

As headlines about job cuts flood American news feeds, 70% of workers are taking steps to prepare for layoffs, according to a new survey from the MarketWatch Guides team. As of June, companies had cut about 386,000 jobs in 2024. Although that total is slightly lower than it was this time last year, employees remain tense.
